About Me

My photo
I try to embrace life, i love people and i love life. Through my work I aim to help break apart the ‘illusion of separation’, to challenge the viewer to question, and evolve out of ignorance, conditioning and ingrained genetic habits. In life I strive to take responsibility for the effect of my existence, and through my actions and images, inspire others to think/dream beyond their immediate capacity. Ultimately I seek to create portals that open to the infinite possibilities of being and expressing, so that we may remember and re-discover who we are, where we originate from and where we are headed. My aspiration is to paint messages, visions and narratives that communicate with an ‘older & wiser us’, awakening ancient memory; as well as the ‘present us’, that we may grow up and accept the responsibilities towards ourselves, each other and the rest of existence on this planet… Kimberley

A journey to the sea and beyond

Lately I've been picking my somewhat neglected meditation practice back up. I have a meditation cushion sitting on a set of flat files in the my studio/sitting room and im finding it great to take breaks when im doing a big peice and just sit and let my mind visualize and wonder. Next to it, on a stool, is a Buddha head with a sandalwood mala encircling the base, and a little bowl of rice for holding incense.

I'm currently as part of my course doing a placement at a neighbourhood house in Queenscliffe which is a little seaside town in Victoria. I grew up in this area and when i was young i found it mundane and like it was holding me back from the big wild life i had in my mind as a angsty little thing, I've grown alot in the time i have lived away from Queenscliffe and it seems i come back with new eyes. I find such warmth in the older generation of the community i love to sit and talk with them as they tell me stories of the days gone by. I love to watch the small things like the cherpy seagulls on the beach and the kids laugh and play on the peir. I think ive learnt to see the beauty in the details of life..im letting life really flow through me. There is this lovely man who comes into the centre and i love how he is so wellspoken, he brings in a little bunch of colourful flowers for the coridantoor every week- sometimes i think we are loosing the finer touches in life and that joy from just giving a little. I'm going to paint his portrait before placement is through. Maybe ill find some more interesting characters to paint too. :)

Peace Kim x
